Since 1997, the Qbox has been Whirlwind's most successful "black box" product. The Qbox is a full-featured audio line tester, perfectly suited for touring, maintenance, installation, and any application requiring audio cable deployment. It includes a pickup sensor, speaker driver, test signal generator, standard headphone output, 1/4" TRS line input, and a 2k ohm (telephone line impedance) handset output. You can easily carry the Qbox on your belt or equipment bag.

The Qbox enables easy signal monitoring at any point in the system - from source to amplifier - allowing rapid fault identification. It can quickly test dynamic microphones and lines without powering up all equipment. The built-in pickup sensor or signal generator features three-level adjustment for tracing signal paths or quickly identifying specific lines among multiple cables. Powered by a standard 9V battery and housed in durable ABS material, the Qbox remains lightweight and suitable for field use.

Insert headphones and use the built-in microphone; with Qboxes at both ends of a cable, internal communication is possible. The Qbox can monitor standard 3-wire intercom signals, with LED indicators showing intercom signal or phantom power status. Use the Qbox as a signal generator for audio system testing during setup. It also functions as a portable active monitor. The source selection module allows you to choose between the built-in condenser microphone or line level signals. The speaker volume control lets you select either microphone or line level input, enabling users to monitor one balanced signal or two unbalanced signals transmitted on pin 2/3 (with pin 1 as ground), such as two intercom channels.
